Coming Soon to a Mail Box Near You...

I put Dave's photography skills and my creativity to use and made Moses' birth announcement. We've placed the order and will have them in the mail in a few weeks.

Keep a refrigerator magnet handy! It's a keeper!

Our Gummy Bear

Dave finally caught Moses' elusive smile. He's been smiling and cooing in his sleep for weeks now, but it wasn't until January 19th that he started grinning while awake. It's still not frequent, but it's finally here! Excuse all the pictures...we're a little excited!

Professionally Good Looking

Today marks Moses' fifth week ex utero, and we can't believe how much our little man has grown! His tiny frame feels heavier, and his sizeable head wobbles less each day. Dave and I delight in his expanding bag of facial expressions and find his "Blue Steel**" face the most entertaining. While he sleeps, we often see little smiles and hear the petite coos of his fledgling laughter.

**If you are unfamiliar with this term, I highly recommend you watch “Zoolander”.

Ring(s) in the New Year

Dave, Moses, and I spent our first New Year’s Eve together at home with Dave’s parents. My au courant boys looked very GQ last night. This is one of my favorite pictures to date.

What Child is This?

Moses celebrated his first Christmas in style… and asleep. We tried rousing our little man for the festivities and arrival of Santa Claus, but he has a knack for sleeping soundly at all the wrong times. However, I’m sure he appreciates the generous amount of swag he received this first noel: a TMX (Tickle Me Elmo 10th Anniversary doll), scores of cute clothes that’ll make the women swoon, a Toys R’ Us gift card, a Frog Pod that’ll someday store his rubber ducks and battleships, a lullaby-playing plush pooch, high-contrast rattles, a handmade quilt, a Christmas book, and more!

The Exodus

On November 28th, our little boy arrived after 14 hours of labor. Although 3 weeks early, he weighed in at an impressive 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20 inches long, with the standard-issue fingers and toes.

He surprised Dave and me by declaring his imminent arrival shortly after an episode of "Heroes" on 11/27. Once at the hospital, I didn't shy away from the epidural, and I am thankful for that glorious invention—--however, I will say the actual administration of the narcotic needs some improvement. Numb from the waist down, I spent the majority of the early-morning labor watching "The X-Files" and "Saved by the Bell" reruns—--pain free (although viewing those nineties' styles was difficult to stomach) . When the actual "push" time came, the pain wasn't for the faint of heart but completely worth the reward. At 11:20 a.m., twelve hours after my water broke, Moses Toliver Ring was born.

“Hello, my little cone head” was the first tender sentence I said to my offspring as Dr. Hurt lay him across my stomach and I glimpsed his misshapen, journey-worn head. Dave had the honor of cutting the gristly umbilical cord and watching his first moments as nurses examined his newly-minted form.

Dave and I were taken instantly with his sweet visage and are forever wound around those tiny fingers. It’s amazing how quickly one can go from “me” to “you” without a second thought.
