Because I'm pregnant during the summer

I've had the urge to cut off my hair for weeks now despite my recent personal pledge to grow it out. These 40 extra pounds are just making the summer too unbearably hot and my hair was constantly in a sloppy ponytail in attempt to remain cool. This is the shortest I can remember my hair ever being. I like it though and already feel much, much cooler.

It won't always look this pretty since I never blow dry my hair or use a flat iron. Plus, I think styling it with heat would completely defeat the purpose of this short 'do.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Last Friday night, Dave and I decided it was time for Moses' first hair cut. . .by me (thank goodness curly hair is forgiving). It wasn't a real hair cut so much as a trim since we only cut the craziness (read: matted mullet) at the base of his neck. He can finally ride in his car seat without his hair becoming a tangled mess.

In case you've missed his mug

I haven't been so great at taking pictures lately, but I thought I'd post the few I have taken recently.

The first set is from our craft time yesterday. Moses has a real marker fetish and loves coloring on anything and everything. Usually, sitting him in his high chair with washable markers and paper works wonders but this time he confused his high chair with hunger. I was making lunch in the kitchen and came back to this...

Thank goodness my little clown is using non-toxic markers.

This second set is from today when I tried to photograph his "rain curls." No picture does them justice but I tried. There's also a cute picture of him finding my belly button or "bell butt" as he calls it.

His morning 'do

I just love Moses' hair, and some mornings, today being one of them, it makes me smile so much.

I think his hair had a party last night. One of my favorite children's groups, Trout Fishing in America, sings about it best:

His girl and his curls

I was looking through our pictures and couldn't find any recent ones of me and Moses so we had an impromptu, fun photo session today. There are some gems but also a nice selection of double chins. Here's the cream of the crop:

The below pictures are from last night when we were waiting for Dave to come home from class. I was trying to capture his beautiful "bath" curls, but no picture does them justice. His fresh curls are so, so very cute and ringlety (that's right, they are so cute that I made up a word for them).
